Love how you snuck out into the whispery early morning, wide-open and tuned in---listening to the trees. What a magical reward! Phil said, "Wow, Marbled Murrelets!", and we listened closely to the sounds, such sweet sounds, musical, and a bit mysterious. Taking in all you described, we stared at your awesome early-morning image and imagined we were right there, too. The raven family conversation, closer and closer, back and forth, so gravelly and interesting, added even more mystery.
Love that you heard Murrelet wingbeats!
Beautiful; awesome... and you, right in the midst of those moments...
Thank you, Toni. It was a bit of a lark (a fog lark?), no solid plan to have all those things come together, just a bit of a hunch and a desire to see and hear the awakening world as the ancients would that morning. Luck seems to happen more often when I begin by saying 'yes.' The wingbeats, yes, are quite apparent in otherwise still air. I would not have guessed that. I heard them before I saw them. And then the ravens, I'm so delighted that I happened to be recording as they made their way closer and closer, and that you can actually hear all that, dimensionally as it unfolds. The magic was palpable and yet, so normal, too, somehow. Glad you and Phil enjoyed and came along. I am always so grateful for your notes.
Beautifully written, David. Thank you. I'm just back from a week on a very quiet Maine island, watching through the fog as osprey and eagle pulled fish from sea to spruce and pine.
Thank you! I closed my eyes and vicariously transported my self there bathed in the sights, scents, and sounds. It was like a morning shower of sensual nature blessings 🙏
What an absolute joy to listen along to... and to be introduced to the Fog Lark. Their eggs are magical looking things.
Ahhh, Chloe, so happy this found an answering chord with you. Thank you for all the times and ways you brighten up a post.
The photo looks like a painting, it's beautifully composed...
I'm so pleased that it speaks to you, Mr. Ford. Thank you for making time to offer such generous encouragement.

Thanks, pal.
This was lovely... I love recording soundtracks when I’m out and about. And maybe one day I’ll be one with Murrelets too!
😍
May the fog larks be with you.

Jason, I sense that quiet. It still lingers in you, in your writing. Even just these few sentences shared here. Thank you for your poetry.
"...watching through the fog as osprey and eagle pulled fish from sea to spruce and pine."
Raven's raucous .. and moody moors.. like a setting for Poe.. ‘Take thy beak out aft a life, and take thy form from my door!’
Lordy, this is a wonder. Love your take on this. Wildly!

Your comment finds me smiling with delight. This is exactly what I hoped for.
