Sacred poem, this. "Real and wild ...and heart-rending, heaven." So beautiful! Every word, each photograph, brings deep feeling...
Oh Dave---I love your river, because you take me along through your words & art--and so I see, and so I sense. And so your river is no longer a stranger, but a friend I would feel at home with...
"Running my weathered finger along the edges of reawakened wonder. Rebirth. Childhood."
Layer after layer after layer---this poem will linger long with me...
Gosh, what a river she must be. So happy to read of your adventures and of your appreciation for all that is. The photos, especially that night sky, are dreamy. 🌌
Oh my. I was right there with you. Except for the fishing bits which I don’t do. But the sky and the whole notion of heaven in the natural world - yes to that. All of that. Thank you for bringing us along with you.
My husband would have loved this. He fished wherever we traveled. From Utah to Canada to the arctic to Bhutan. He knew every brook and river within miles of home. He knew all the birds, insects, creatures. Gone two years.
Reminds me of camping at Joshua Tree. Thank you for sharing your heaven with us. Your story inspired me…
Wow! Powerful and intimate. I especially love the line "An explosion of wings, finally, the poetry that their escape has written."
You and us through your words and photos were certainly in heaven.
I so much envy your travels, especially the fishing trips. Well written my friend.
Thank you my friend!

Makes me achey for you, Betsy. He sounds pretty wonderful. Bet we'd have gotten along.
So glad you're here.
Thank you for taking us with you!💕
