What a warm and welcoming story from beginning to end! Isn’t it amazing that every once in a while, magic shows up in all its sparkly colors and simply whispers in your ear…
Thank you, Doug. Have you noticed if the Rufous have made it back as far north as you are? They seem a little early this year, but then it has been a pretty mild winter along the west coast. Miss you, friend and am ever grateful for your kind notes.
Last calls do not always result in last minute wonders ...but they do often enough in my experience to at least ask. I am amazed, again and again when one more minute is just the right minute for magic. I'm so very pleased that you get that...
When I was very young, my mom used to point to something beautiful in nature—a tree, a landscape, or a bird. She would say; ‘oh look! how beautiful, that’s good luck, make a wish’—so I did, still do. Only now it is more being thankful, grateful for having been taught to find joy in the beauty. I would say that the combination of the Ruby throated showing up, and the magic created by reconnecting with a cherished old friend—is wish worthy, or however you choose to celebrate it.Thank you for sharing these special moments of life. And what a perfect ‘click’ of the camera. I cannot wait for my hummer family to return to their second home. And the Kestrel’s that work the fields by the lake.
How very lovely to get a glimpse of the mother that helped shape your heart and mind, Lor. I love the making a wish part. As ever, I am quieted by your calm appreciation of the world you move through, and am grateful of the graces and forces that set you spinning within the world.
What a precious gift! I talk to "my" hummingbird every single day. Sometimes he takes drinks of water from the hose whilst I'm watering. Relish the moment.
Good morning, JPM, I'm so pleased to imagine you conversing with your hummingbird friend on a daily basis. Imagine the changes in the world around us if we all began to speak with our wild companions and treat them as worthy of such confidings, and worthy of being listened to in return. We are family on this wondrous planet, after all.
I talk to the lizards and bees too. Usually apologizing when I accidentally spray them whilst filling the bird baths every day! I try to pay attention to the small things - children do this so easily; many adults seem to lose this ability to focus on the tiny details on this wondrous planet. As you say - we are all family.

A sign, indeed. 🥲💓

Of course you're welcome, Silas.
How grateful I am to have generous souls like you to share these bits of magic with.
Patience and grace. Beautifully written. Finding beauty in this world of chaos. You are my favorite read...I look forward to every post.
I'm touched, Ellen. Thank you for such encouragement.
May something completely unexpected and wonderful come whisper your name, today.
Absolutely exquisite--and better than heroin, I don't mind telling you ;)
OK, now I'm chuckling.
I'm so sorry that you're having to work through so much recovery pain, but delighted to have provided a bit of a heroin substitute.
How dear you are, Chloe and how grateful I am to imagine you feeling some better.
Yet another absolute delight! Thank you David.

May your day be kind.
Pure joy of a story and a captured moment for posterity.
Seems we could all use a bit of joy. How grateful I am that our patient little visitor saw fit to share some. So very glad you're here, Sally.
Small wonders performed daily! Smile.
Ain't it a kick.
Thank you Philip.
David! I love this story so much. I got the chills a little bit when you conversed with this fiery little creature and he replied!
Dear, dear Holly, why this just makes me beam.

You are my people!
Lovely, from start to finish. A little hovering blessing on top of a blessed renewal of friendship.
This is a day to lay carefully away in your internal "memory album," to refresh your soul when life's clouds press too darkly about you.
I shall take your counsel and add it to that 'memory album' as a bookmark, NL. I thank you for such generous words.
